What is your role at G&M?
I work as a purchase ledger clerk within the finance department in a team of four.
I manage all supplier accounts for three companies within the G&M Group, Alutec, Glasgow Radiators and G&M Radiators. This involves keeping supplier accounts up to date, posting of supplier invoices, reconciling supplier statements and preparing monthly BACS payments.
How long have you been working for G&M ?
I have been working at G&M for 13 years, I started working at G&M when I was 17 years old.
What aspect of your role do you enjoy the most?
I enjoy helping with problem solving and helping my colleagues.
If you could do another job for just one day, what would it be?
I would love to be a fitness instructor for the day and teach my two favourite fitness classes, Body combat and Sh’bam.
Before working at G&M, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?
When I was 16, I worked at a company in Glasgow City Centre, Ico Ico Creative, as a receptionist. They worked with people starting out in fashion, music, art and design.
What advice would you give to someone looking to start a career at G&M?
Do your best, don’t be afraid to ask questions, it’s all part of learning new skills.
Focus on the step Infront of you and not the whole staircase.
Always be friendly.
If you could switch your job with anyone else within G&M, whose job would you want?
I would like to switch jobs with the IT Dept.
What is your proudest moment at G&M?
I am most proud of being part of a great finance team for so long even though they drive me up the wall (joking)
What do you like to do in your spare time?
In my spare time, I like to spend time with family and friends and enjoy my fitness classes.
What is your biggest pet peeve?
Someone chewing/crunching loud whilst eating.
Tell us something people would be surprised to learn about you:
When I was younger, I won medals for running.
I also used to be pretty good at badminton and archery.
