Tin Lizzies still rolling thanks to G&M

This classic Model T was spotted at the weekend at a local car show with a G&M core in the radiator.

It’s an interesting design which has a bar for the main radiator mounting running horizontally through the core just above the bottom tank. We have supplied hundreds of cores like this over the years to customers across the globe.

Considering the Model T was built between 1909-1927 it’s a superb tribute to the dedicated owners and enthusiasts who keep these iconic and groundbreaking vehicles running.

Dolphin LLc visit G&M

We were delighted to welcome Juho Partanen, CEO of Dolphin Llc and Marcel van der Spek, Global Sales Director to G&M last week. Dolphin Manufacturing in Dubai are an important and long standing supplier and trading partner for the G&M Group.

This was Juho's first ever visit to G&M and Scotland so he was keen to see the sights and sample some of the local produce once the important business had been completed. Marcel is an old friend of G&M having traded with us as both supplier and customer for over 30 years.

After a day of meetings and factory and warehouse tours it was time to relax a little starting with a visit to the Glengoyne Distillery and a pint in the local pub.

The day was capped off with an Italian meal in a superb Glasgow restaurant in the company of some of the G&M team.

All in all a very successful visit.

Haste ye back!!

G&M Radiator – Keeping the (roulette) wheels turning

As an established supplier of Bearward Original Products, we were recently contacted by the Facility’s Manager of a large Casino in Tangier, Morocco. The radiator for their Cummins powered generator was leaking and they needed the correct Bearward unit shipped out so it could be replaced with minimum downtime.

We contacted Bearward and established the required unit which was duly ordered. This particular radiator has a tinned marine specification core as it is situated close to the sea. A few weeks later it was hoisted in to place through the roof of the generator room. The ansi flange connections were sent loose so they could be lined up with the existing pipework before being welded in to position.

Our customer reports that the engine has been run and the cooling system now works fine. Everything lined up perfectly which made the job of installing the replacement radiator very straightforward.

Another satisfied customer - and a Casino full of happy gamblers.

Caterpillar D6 Header Tank Neck-Modification

A customer brought this header tank form a Caterpillar D6 in to our Glasgow Radiator branch.

It was covered in concrete, making it impossible to use the filler neck.

After shot blasting to remove the concrete, we then modified the neck to create an extension, which will keep the filler cap away from the tank, preventing any future problems.

The before & after photos speak for themselves.
Concrete evidence that we can handle any task.

Finless Radiator for Recycling Plant Hydraulic Loader

We recently completed the successful installation of a finless radiator for a large hydraulic loader operated by a major recycling company nearby.

They had recently replaced one of their wheeled loaders from a well-known manufacturer. They contacted us to see if it was possible to install one of our finless radiators. They had experience of the effectiveness of a finless unit.

The site supervisor said “On machines with the standard radiator, we had to stop them at least twice a day and clean the radiator. With the finless radiator we haven’t had to clean it once in the last 3 years

It took us a few visits to measure up the space available but the finished unit fitted perfectly and is now operating successfully on the site.

The customer is now looking at the rest of the fleet with a view to replacing all the heat-exchangers with finless units.

This tried and tested technology is suitable for many applications.

G&M - helping to keep the Rolls rolling

We had an unusual request recently to manufacture a core for a vintage V8 Rolls Royce car.

At some point the radiator-which would originally have been a cellular core- was recored with a replacement core with at least 1/3 of the coolant tubes blanked in order to fit the bottom tank.

However, this was causing the engine to overheat so G&M and our customer came up with the core design you see here.

This allowed all of the tubes to be utilised ensuring the owner and the vehicle can keep their cool.

They are manufactured in the UK by Bearward Engineering. There are numerous parts in the range – with variations of core height, number of rows, fin pitch and the application which could be for radiator coolant, intercooler or low temp aftercooler.

Happy Birthday Andrew

It was a milestone birthday for our Financial Controller Andrew Macnair as he celebrates his 60th.

John Blake and some of the G&M Staff were on hand to wish him well and present him with a bottle of a very rare and exclusive whisky.

The water of life is obviously working a treat judging from Andrew’s sprightly demeanour.

Slainte!! as we say in these parts.
